Merriam-Webster defines integrity as " firm adherence to a code of moral or artistic values: incorruptibility, an unimpaired condition: soundness, the quality or state of being complete or undivided: completeness."
Sometimes we mistake integrity for morals or values. Integrity, or the lack thereof, is defined in actions of morals or values.
What do you do when tempted with vices?
How do you react to injustice?
Do you hold yourself accountable?
Integrity Mirrors Character
Often in social media and other daily interaction, we like to put on a false face and persuade other, we're living a life of high esteem while maintaining a particular code of ethics. To only go into our homes and live a life of squalor.
When we lack integrity, we lack self-love, internal balance, and all credibility.
We have to start being honest with ourselves. Hold ourselves accountable and be the people we externally put on display.
Internally, tell the truth, and over time, we will begin to see a new degree of completeness enter into your life.
If we promise ourselves to start a new health regime, DO IT! If we promise to be a better husband or wife, BE IT! When we decide to call our mothers more, CALL HER! When we make personal promises to stop indulging in detrimental behaviors, STOP IT!
If we falter, then we must reconcile with ourselves, then take the proper steps to get back on track and build trust in our abilities. It's natural to have times of weakness, but when we continue to build integrity, these moments will begin to decrease, and our self-confidence will increase. We will start to trust ourselves and others.
Let's be incorruptible with ourselves, rebuild sound credible foundations in all relationships, and create a complete and balanced character in all personal and professional encounters.
